Tile Installation Process
Preparing the Surface
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, debris, and contaminants. Use a suitable primer if required.
Mixing the Adhesive
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to mix the tile adhesive with water. Use a bucket and mix until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
Applying the Adhesive
Use a trowel to apply the adhesive onto the surface in a thin, even layer. Make sure to only spread a manageable area at a time.
Combing the Adhesive
Use the notched side of the trowel to create ridges in the adhesive. This helps improve the bond between the adhesive and the tiles.
Placing the Tiles
Carefully press the tiles into the adhesive, aligning them with spacers if needed.
Adjusting and Leveling
Make any necessary adjustments to the tile position and ensure they are level and properly aligned. Use a rubber mallet or tile leveler if required.
Grouting
Allow the adhesive to set according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once set, remove any spacers and apply grout to fill the gaps between the tiles.
Cleaning
Wipe off any excess grout from the tile surface using a damp sponge. Clean the tiles thoroughly to achieve a clean and polished appearance.
Curing and Drying
Allow the adhesive and grout to cure and dry completely before subjecting the tiled area to heavy use or foot traffic. Follow the recommended drying time.
Finishing Touches
Once the adhesive and grout have fully dried, inspect the installation for any touch-ups or cleaning needed. Apply any necessary finish for added protection.
